Padding Books

I've got a whole load of ideas for new books I'm intending to write this year but I've also wondered if I should pad some of my existing stories. Generally speaking short stories tend to outsell full length novels but I feel far more creative if I have plenty of time for the characters to evolve.

One of my existing stories, known as Enchanting Revelation, is a romance set in the days of Saxon warriors invading Britain. Initially I intended to write it in the form of a trilogy of novels so the ending was intentionally set up for a sequel, but I'm beginning to wonder if it needs a full sequel to continue the story, maybe padding the existing book may be all that's needed.

Another book called Effluo Insula: The Rebirth of Ackerlea was written as a short story supplement to a trilogy of full length novels, but I feel that too may work as a full novel in its own right.

Initially I will certainly write a lot more short stories but later in the year I may move onto padding many of them before taking on new full length novels.
